Hueself Privacy Policy

Hueself helps you find your personal colors. We built it to collect as little as possible: no account, no name, no email, no tracking, no ads.

Your selfies

• On your iPhone. The light check, color palettes, drapes, color checks and the on-device previews run entirely on your iPhone.
• AI analysis and AI looks. Only when you agree in the app, the selfies you choose are sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards them through our AI service provider (an API gateway) to Google's Gemini API to analyze your coloring or to make a look you asked for. The provider only passes requests on to Google and bills us for usage.
• Our server does not store your photos. Photos are processed in memory and discarded when the response is sent back. We keep only the text result of an analysis, filed under a one-way fingerprint (hash) of the photo, so the same photo always gets the same answer. The photo itself cannot be recovered from this fingerprint.
• Google. We use Google's Gemini API through a paid channel. Under Google's terms for the paid API, your photos are not used to train or improve Google's models. Google may keep requests for a limited period to detect abuse, as described in the Gemini API Additional Terms.
• We do not use your photos for face recognition, identification, advertising or any other purpose.
• Photos are stripped of location and other metadata before upload.

Other data

• A random install ID, created on your iPhone, so our server can keep your balance of AI looks. It is not linked to your name, Apple ID or device identifiers.
• Purchase records: when you buy looks, the App Store's signed transaction (product and transaction ID) is verified by our server and recorded once, so each purchase is credited exactly once. We never see your payment details.
• Rate limiting: daily request counts per install ID and per hashed IP address, to prevent abuse. IP addresses are not stored.
• Abuse protection (Apple App Attest and DeviceCheck): to keep the free AI analysis to one per iPhone, our server checks with Apple that requests come from the genuine Hueself app on a real device, and asks Apple to keep one "free analysis used" flag for your device. Apple stores this flag; it contains no personal information and we cannot use it to identify you.

On your iPhone

Your results, photos and looks are stored only on your iPhone (and in your iCloud/device backup if you use one). You can delete them any time in Settings → “Delete my photos and results”, or by deleting the app.

Children

Hueself is not directed at children under 13.
